Accused of Plagiarism but teacher hasn't reported yet?

-Got accused of plagiarizing on Midterm and Final exam! Help?

I have never committed any act of academic dishonesty. I honestly study by mere memorizing and regurgitating. So I basically memorized excerpts from the book and terms from the Internet that I thought we should know for the exams word for word and then put those answers on the exams. I did it honestly not KNOWING that you could even plagiarize on an exam. I plagiarism applied to essays projects, and assignments done beforehand where people become lazy. For this exam I studied for weeks, I studied so hard. Plus, I'm not trying to disrespect the teacher. I know that the teacher knows its from a book, I just didn't know it was wrong. I subconsciously get engrossed in what I am studying and then regurgitate it. I know what plagiarism is, and I KNOW it is serious; however, I did not think it applied to this kind of context.

When I told my teacher my explanation and ignorance, she seemed like she MIGHT or most likely report it although she didn't take it personally. I think she is trying to follow the rules. When I begged her not to she told me to relax since she believes they only give me a warning and a file for seven years on the first offense. I told her of my previous suspension and she said since they are unrelated that she's thinks (but isnt sure) that they will not suspend or expel me. I told her that the Dean of Judicial Affairs is not that understanding from my experience because that is her job. So she told me she would call generally to make sure first I wouldn't get suspended or expelled, but I wasn't completely sure.

She told me she would call me but it's been three weeks since she said that and hasn't yet. However, the rules for reporting a student are: The written report should be distributed as soon as possible, preferably within 15 calendar days from discovery, but not later than 30 calendar days after the first day of classes of the regular semester (fall or spring) following the grade assignment.

Should I talk to her today or should I just let it go and hope she forgot? I'm so nervous!C is for cookie, thats good enough for me
When a teacher makes a report on a student, that teacher would need undeniable evidence of what she's accusing the student of doing. In your case, your teacher may not have undeniable evidence that you plagiarized. Your teacher only has a hunch.

Lets draw this situation out. Your teacher goes to the principal and makes this report that you plagiarized. The principal asks the teacher what did this student copied? She would hand over the test and point out what parts she thinks you copied. Then the principal asks how does she know it's plagiarized. The principal would ask for the actual work that you copied from. The teacher wouldn't be able to show this. Now even if you did memorized a document, no one can truly memorize something exactly word by word, thus the principal wouldn't accept this as plagiarized because too many words aren't matching up.

Then the principal asks the teacher whether you the student have been in the room taking this test the entire time. Teacher says yes. The principal asks if she had seen you copy anything. She'd say no. If you had nothing out during the test, then you had nothing to copy from.

So the principal will do his own investigating and may call you in just to get your side of the story, see how it matches up with what the teacher says. If you don't hear from the teacher or principal, then don't worry about it. More than likely the teacher has made a scare tactic on you just to make sure you haven't plagiarized.
