I get embarrssed very easily around certain people/teachers?
-It's weird, cos I have a crush on this teacher so much I never stop thinking about him, but I won't see him ever again, or talk to him for a while because our year (7) is moving to the lower school site, long story And I'll understand if you didn't understand that bit ! But I do get very very shy around him and when he used to ask me questions in class, not very often, because he knows, I used to go so red, for no reason, he asked me a question! I went so red once that he never asks me questions any more, but does talk to me a lot :) Anyway, that'll be over soon, as what I first told you, he might be there but I don't know, But thats not just it, I am fine around female teachers and things, theres this other teacher though and whenever he asks me questions I go so red, I DO NOT fancy him he's about late 40's, he is my other Science teacher, I have 3, and one of them is the one I like and he is 25, but with those two blokes I just go red when they ask me things, and around maybe another couple of males sometimes, It's just annoying cos when say the one in his 40's asks me if I've finished work, I get a bit, you know, and I'll say it again, I do not fancy him, at all, but I like him as a teacher but he always stares at me and things and always asks ME the questions, but the 25 year old, doesn't stare at me, and doesn't ask me questions, although i am a science brainiac :L Please help, now, must get some information :(
Can you give me some trivia that is very interesting to a high school students?
-In 2009, 46% of high school students had sexual intercourse and 13.8% had four or more sex partners during their life. Prior to the sexual activity, 21.6% drank alcohol or used drugs. Only 38.9% used a condom.
CDC
In 2009, 34% of currently sexually active high school students did not use a condom during their last sexual intercourse.
CDC
In 2006, an estimated 5,259 young people (ages 13-24) were diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
CDC
Each year, approximately 19 million new STD infections occur, and almost half of them are among youth ages 15-24.

It was a pleasure to have you in my class?
-My teacher wrote this on my report card but i got a 52, that makes no sense. wdfI agree that the statement made is confusing, but you have to see it from a teacher's point of view, AND you have to know that there may have been some limitations to what he/she could have stated. In our school system - the 'remarks' for the report cards are limited to certain statements already in place. Oftentimes, the statements do not necessarily 'say' what teachers want, or need to indicate about the student - but that's all they have.
As a student - you can make a '52', which in my district would be FAILING, but you can still be a nice person, having never given your teacher any trouble and the teacher enjoyed having you in class. That has nothing to do with your grades, per se. However, there should have been other statements the teacher would have been able to use to alert your parents that you are not holding up your end of the bargain.
For example - I have had great students in terms of class helpers, not talking, not causing disturbances, and I loved having them in the class, but on the otherhand, I had to select the sentence that stated: student does not turn in work on time, or student does not turn in assignments, student does not work well in groups, student does not.....you get my drift?
I try to inform my students of 'what statements" I will be making on their report cards. For my homeroom students, I always attach my own PERSONAL letter to parents about the progress of their child, and how they respond in class. Parents are invited to come and spend time in the class so they can 'see' how their own children 'act'. We have chairs in each classroom for parents who visit. Most of the time, students don't know they are coming and parents are often surprised at their own children's actions in a classroom. Kids go home and often lie to their parents, or tell their side of the story. When the parent comes to the class - they can see for themselves, and also have the opportunity to see their children's folders and grades.
Your teacher probably likes you - but if you want the truth - you are NOT performing academically the way you should - and that's where you need help. '52' is failing. '65 is failing - so that means you are falling below the line of expectation.
My advice - get it together. If you need help - ask for it. Your school is obligated to provide tutoring, and whatever else is necessary to ensure that you are getting the opportunity you need to be successful.
I encourage you - do your best.

How to make my teacher feel guilty?
-This teacher is not like average teachers. This teacher I could hang out, laugh, and talk to about any problems. He is like one my best Friends that are adults.
So yesterday I asked for a ride after being at school til 4ish. I asked if he could drop me home, but he said could you get another ride. This was after this girl asked right b4. I know space wasn't a problem cause he has a lot of room in his car. Since I was rejected I went to the main parking lot to wait. Then this guy who is my friend that was at school with me came by me at the main parking lot. I told him about my problem, and he was like I should of asked the teacher. Which already I did. Then my friend told me the teacher asked him if he needed a ride after I left the building. The only reason why my friend didn't take the ride was because his parents were coming. This is the most interesting part. My friend lives 14miles away from school while I live only 3 miles away. And yea this teacher lives way closer to me. So it puzzles me.
What should I do to make him feel guilty?
I was thinking about walking to school because It is only 2-3 miles. While walking I know he will pass by because he has to go school tomorrow and he takes the same way I am walking. Thus he will either pass me and noticed I am walking, or he will stop over. if he stops over I would say I don't want to bother your time and dont take a ride if he offers. what you think of this idea?
Any other ideas? This is a good one.
If he rides by and stops to offer a ride then you should go back to when he asked your friend for a ride just to see his reaction and to see what he would say...You can make him look stupid real easy. Are you serious? Put your big girl/big boy panties on and get the heck over it. Honestly, it's high school...I know there's drama galore but are you seriously plotting revenge on a teacher that didn't give you a ride? Grow up, Get some of this thing called "Maturity" and be big kid and go on with your life.
Dude, get over it.he probably had something to do and didn't want you coming along.teachers are teachers, they can be friendly but not your friends.your just feeling bummed that he wouldn't give you a ride home.your making somethig out of completely nothing.Oh and it's a stupid idea.
maybe he knew the kid lives farther than you so he would give him a ride instead since hes more desperate for one. ??? idk you shouldnt get even tho..
dude its summer. forget it.

Putting an ad as a tutor in the newspaper?
-I am a junior and believe that I am strongly qualified to tutor younger kids. I decided to tutor 4th thru 10th graders. I wanted to advertise at two libraries I go to but unfortunately they do not allow advertisement that is non-profit :( So I am going to advertise in the newspaper.
When I looked in the ads for the newspaper however, I found that there was not a single ad in the newspaper that is similar to teaching. I thought that there will be a few ads there since I've seen so many high schooler tutors in the library. So what I'm wondering is... is this normal that I did not find any tutoring ads in the newspaper? I'm self-conscious about things that I've never done before so good advice is much appreciated :)

Can professor see where and when students log and use their blackboard account?
-I just wanted to know, because my professor posted on the blackboard announcement that he can see where and when we log into our blackboard account; therefore we shouldn't cheat. But i just wanted to know. A curious thing.
So basically two questions:
1) Can professors see when we log onto our blackboard account?
2) Can professors see where we are when we use the blackboard account? She can see when, but most of us don't have time to mess with that.
She can not see where you are.
She should understand that Blackboard assignments are often collaborative efforts, she can't do anything about that, and she should modify her grading methods accordingly, instead of relying on unfounded fear methods. Just my opinion.

Would i make a good teacher (characteristics?)?
-i graduated with a business degree, but i am thinking of getting a k-8 teaching certificate. i care a lot about children, and i admit that when i eventually have kids i would like the summers and holidays off so i could care for them (i see all my friends struggling to shuffle their children to and from sitters).
positive traits- on one side, my whole life everyone has always told me i would make a good teacher. i love kids and i would do my best to be a great teacher and help each one succeed. i am very caring, observant.
negative- i am very shy, and i know i would have to deal with some very 'strong-willed' parents, i am somewhat patient, but i don't know how patient i could be when the kids are absolutely bratty. i'[m also somewhat disorganized which i could work on..
i was just wondering if anyone had any comments. i know the money is not the best and yes, i think the vacations are nice (though not the reason i'm doing this). i just don't know 'what it takes' to be a teacher. also, what are your feelings on being a teacher.Working with children, it's either love or hate, there isn't any in between. You either love it or hate it! Also, the term "bratty" is quite telling as to how you feel about this. Sure, kids have bad days, but us teachers that truly love our jobs, don't use that term.

Are there certain workbooks or programs I could use to tutor an incoming 8th grader reading skills?
-I am trying to tutor an incoming 8th grade student in reading during the summer but I don't know how to or even where to begin. I need some help.
Geometry or Art camp?
-So I found out that the geometry course I'm taking intersects with my art camp. My art camp starts the 24 and the geometry ends the 28 so I'm stuck. I can't take the test early or miss three days. I really want to take and finish geometry but i really really love this camp, i've been there before, had such a wonderful experience. So I don't know what to do and I'm getting very upset. can you guys give me advice on how to solve the situation? Or how I can decide?Yea get geometry out of the way
Can you please tell me how did you learn English?
-I feel so embrassed, living in an English speaking country for over 9 years and can't speak English properly! Mom sent me to good school when I was young but didn't help. Tutoring after school, didn't help. I speak English all the time and most of the people I know only speak English but my English never improve!
Now I think I need to take few hours each day to study English but I don't know what to study. I just want to know how do people learn English? What did you learn in kindergarten? In primary school? In high school? Give me all the topics, so I can google it and study it. Thanks!Learning English starts really at the very beginning. Most of the time it comes from hearing other people speaking it properly. Really the only way to get better is to totally immerse yourself. Watch english programs on television, find people to talk and listen to, etc. You also might want to try getting some recordings of people speaking english. There a lot of websites for practicing english. I would say a lot of depends also on what your first language is. Sometimes your understanding of english improves but it takes longer for you to speak it better. Keep trying and dont give up. You also might want to check with the school district where you live. I know we have an ESL program for adults. There are two websites I'm using with my ESL students that i am tutoring right now you might want to check out:
http://www.vocabulary.co.il/
http://classroom.jc-schools.net/basic/
best of luck to youWell, listen to people talk for one. Listen closely and carefully, but only if the speak fluent English. If not, well that won't help you. Talk to yourself in a mirror, just practice saying everyday things. These are just practices, but I don't know what else you could do. Hope this helps.
English is supposedly one of the hardest languages to learn. I personally learnt it via immersion, although that technique doesn't seem to be working for you.
Perhaps retry learning the basics at a university, then keep advancing until you have a strong understanding.
I grew up in the UK so it kind of came natural, you seem to write English well, ask your friends to help you out with vocalization a bit.

Difference in Quality of education?
-My father told me to study college in America, I'm from Asia and I already have 1 year experience in college here.
In curiousness, I want to know the quality of education in America?
What do you guys think?Your best bet is to research institutions individually based on your area of study. Some schools that are well known might not have the best Engineering department, for example, while they do have a great humanities reputation, etc.

Can my teacher say this to me and my class?
-im in 7th grade and my latin teacher told my class that " you guys aren't worthy to go to harvard. don't even try and you guys aren't even smart enough and then he told us our parents are stupid that they let i watch tv and blablaa. i really dont like this teacher. my friend would always be talking during his class and would not even listin and he yells at me? like wtf. do you need new glasses? can he even say these things?Report him. I am sick to my stomach of these worthless, retarded teachers who think they have all the power. He has NO RIGHT to say, and disrespect students, let alone fellow adults. My one math, 7th grade substitute teacher even decided to scream at a student to get down on the ground, because he told her the truth. REPORT HIM. Tell the principal, parents, just let them not tolerate this disrespect. >.<
Sure he can.
That's not right
Nope he can't tell ur parents and make sure u got proff

Why is it that employers think online education is not as good as in class?
-I am a college student and I do better in online courses than in class. First semester I had a 2.77 for a GPA and they were all inclass A in professionalism , B in sanitation, B intro to foods, and C in purchasing . the next semester i took all online courses and had a 4.0. I had an A in French and an A in history. I am a Political Science major. Next semester I am taking Japanese, Mandarin and Arabic and I am expecting A's in those as well.
I am also taking an online TEFL course from Ical. I currently tutor English to non english speaking students. I do notice that the TEFL course seemed to improve my ability.Employers are interested in "soft skills" as well as in academics. They want employees who attend regularly, are punctual, complete assigned tasks, work well with other people, and obey the rules. Not all of these skills can be learned online.
Also, higher level thinking skills are taught in classes. People learn such skills better through discussion.
Also, I think online classes are often easier than classroom classes. Perhaps that is why you did better in those than in the regular classes.Online colleges are mostly for-profit institutions... There's stories all over the Washington Post and NY Times that discredit those types of schools... I would stop putting money into that and bite the bullet and go to a real school... With online courses the misconception is that you have access to all of your notes and books, and that's not fair compared to someone who had to take a test in front of a professor with no notes...
Well I took CELTA which had to be in person. I think for teaching, actual teaching experience is important compared to just reading things online. But I agree, overall I learn better on my own, it's just that people learn differently. However some jobs require socializing abilities as well, and those have to be learned in person.

online classes is relatively new - certainly in my lifetime. it takes a while for something to make a name for itself.

What is it about "good leaders" that makes you choose to follow them?
-I am specifically curious about what leaders do to motivate people to change. What is it about a leader's communication style or personality traits that make them effective? Why would you be willing to stray from your customary ways of working/thinking and accept new challenges? Thanks for your contributions.
What are some good history movies?
-That are perhaps similar to The Kings Speech, where it goes by what would have been closest to the truth?Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of Our Fathers
Now this gives you a perspective from both sides of the Pacific Front and gives you some idea of the conditions in the war but no historic movie can be 100% accurate as no one can see into the minds of all parties involved in the making of history.
Schindler's List
also has a documentary attached where survivors of the Holocaust share their stories

Teacher seems to enjoy humiliating me, what to do?
-My art teacher obviously does not like me. I know I'm not always perfectly behaved, but there are people in my class who are a lot worse. Today I had a pair of glasses made out plastic Lego stuff, and I was holding it near my face. She didn't like it, so she stared at me and I put it away, then she said, "what's in here?" (while pointing to her head) and I said "a brain", and she kinda gave me a bit of a dirty look until I blurted out "a little brain." she was satisfied then, and simply told me to use my brain next time. The little brain thing came from a few weeks ago when she thought my work was too big, and admittedly it was, but she decided to say, "there's a little thing in there called a brain (pointing to head) I said little!" she said it in a very sarcastic voice as if she was talking to a baby. I wouldn't have minded if she had just told me my work was too big, instead of my brain too small. She does all this in front of the whole class, but when I see her away from class she's nice to me. Why is she acting like this, and what can I do? I know I'm not dumb, but it just upsets me when she says those kind of things.Just try as hard as you can. Don't mind what the teacher thinks. When I had art class the teacher humiliated me nonstop in front of the whole class. He also degraded me in other ways. But thats when I realised that art isn't for everyone so I droped the course. Everyone has a brain but they just dont know how to use it.Give her an apple with a worm in it
humiliate her ***.
she's obviously a *****
It's just life, dont give a **** and just go with it.
Just deal with it. It's July now, shouldn't you be out of school?
I know I just copied and pasted my same answer here but it fits your problem and I was sencir when I wrote this so it is for you too. :)
I know that it is easier said than done, but, with something like this, it is better that you move on. All you do is give those people satisfaction when you don't. You may be a late Bloomer but those are the rarest and most beautiful and often the wisest. They take time to learn thoroughly and eventually get faster. That is exactly how I was. I am a graduate from college now with honors and my math teacher in high school called me a retard LOL! There was a certain concept that I just couldn't understand and I felt like I kept asking the same question just at different steps of the problem, but instead of explaining the whole problem to me he would give me 1 word answers. Finally he called me a retard. I have to be honest, I wanted to cry so bad and to think I tried to defend him against another student (you can see the story in previous question).
I kept my cool and kindly left the room, before I left I looked at him straight in the eyes and said, "you know you really hurt me just now and what you said to me was completely uncalled for. I will be in the library if you need me." I repositioned my backpack and left quietly. I told my librarian what happened, little did I know, she was a retired math teacher and helped my with the work. She may have had a talk with him because he was more than nice to me when I returned the next day. I did not slander him to the librarian I just told the truth and asked if I could stay in the library for the remainder of the day. (Last period class).
I took the high road and was the bigger person than the teacher and you know something, he looked up to me! It was a simple sentence. "You really hurt me and what you said to me was uncalled for." Now, if he got satisfaction from that instead of a wake up call, then he is no better than the worst most stupidest student in the school. He would be no better than a child with a temper. I wasn't going to stoop down to that level. Do you know that he actually asked to sign my yearbook at the end of the year. He said, "Though my year was very difficult, you were a spot of light in my class and very proud of you. I wish you all the best of luck in your future classes."
My message to you is to keep your head up and all you can do is learn from what happened back there. It didn't kill you, so you must be stronger in some way. :)
humiliate her ***.
she's obviously a *****
It's just life, dont give a **** and just go with it.

Im trying to teach a teen mental math. How do I go about doing it?
-She SUCKS at counting anything (addition, multiplication, division) in her head. Shes fairly decent on paper. She needs to develop the visual skills needed to do mental math. Start with manipulatives. Base 10 blocks are commonly used to help students learn numbers and more importantly place value. These blocks uses cubes to represent numbers and place value. Small cubes (bits) are ones. 10 bits make a rod, or one set of ten. 10 rods make a flat square, or one set of 100. Stack 10 flats to make a large cube, or one set of 1000. Using this helps to visually demonstrate the place value of numbers. When she's doing calculations on paper, I bet she's just doing it by the steps with little or no understanding of what's going on. Use base 10 blocks to teach this. When she masters these blocks, she'll have an easier time doing mental math.
So for example, "What exactly are we carrying when we carry the 1 in adding?" Say 54 + 69. That's 5 rods, 4 bits + 6 rods and 9 bits. Lay out the correct count of rods and bits for each addend, then combine the rods and bits. That's 11 rods and 13 bits. But since this is base 10, we cannot have 10 or more in any place value. So we cluster and 'carry over' into the next place value. 13 bits = 1 rod and 3 bits, so we carry over the 1 rod. Now we have 12 rods and 3 bits. Cluster 10 rods to make a flat. Now we have 1 flat, 2 rods and 3 bits OR 1 hundred, 2 tens and 3 ones. Answer is 123.
Don't have base 10 blocks? Use money. Pennies are ones, dimes are 10s, dollars are 100s. Just remember you're counting the cents. So the answer above would be illustrated as 1 dollar, 2 dimes and 3 pennies. 123 cents, NOT as $1.23
Teaching expanded form also helps the understanding of place value, which will help when dealing with bigger numbers.
789 x 23
(700 + 80 + 9) x (20 + 3)
If you understand how to solve the above using the distributive property then you can see how this will help her to understand the more traditional way to multiply where you're multiplying each digit from one factor with each digit from the other factor.
Although the above methods are 'long' when solving, they reveal the inner workings of numbers and may help her to understand the process rather just learn the steps. In time she should be better in doing some of this in her head.
Finally teach estimation to get a rough answer, because mental math is mostly about getting a close answer. What's 15% of $167.89, your typical gratuity at a restaurant. 15 is 10 + 5. So 10% of $170 (rounded) is $17. 5 is half of 10, so 5% is roughly $8 (half of $17). 17 + 8 is 25. 15% of $167.89 is about $25. Quick, what's the final bill with gratuity added? $170 +$25...well 175 + 25 is 200, but I'm adding 170 not 175 (5 less)...so 5 less than 200 is 195. The total bill is about $195. If you want to be more accurate, from 195 subtract 2...why? 170 is 2 more than 168...thus the final bill would be closer to $193.
Hi:
try have her visually a sheet of paper and have her visually see the the number and do it like she is writing it on that sheet of paper. and say the answers
another way is to visually beads or dots in her head she can do addition and subtraction that way
if you show her a Chinese or Japanese Abacus than work with that is easier for for her to do mental addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and in some case squares, square root and cube and cube roots this the easiest way to do that due to in simplicity ( all you are do is moving bead up and down along with the top ones )
I hope this helps

Teaching interview monday!?
-help! i have a teaching interview monday- reception class, literacy lesson using inside & outside classroom. i need ideas please!! xIdeas? You should have completed your teacher training with a magnitude of wonderful ideas.
I don't know what reception is but I assume they are young.
1. Preparation should be simple but effective. Children love to learn by playing or creating
2. Student need to be ordered and structured so you won't lose control of your class.
3. Plan and pre prepare all their items. ie Photocopy and cut out an entire set of hands and feet and maybe a face. They can colour them in write their names on them, label them, hands, fingers, nails, toes etc.
or outside they could draw around their hands and feet and cut out the shapes themselves - label them etc and then hang them around the room somewhere.
Make sure you have the words they need to spell on the board or individual sheets for them to copy.
Have all the pencils, textas, scissors, paper etc ready in advance.
Make sure you have a class list so you know how to spell their names.
Have a reward box for the best behaved students. Keep adding their names when they are good. At the end pull out a name and reward that student with a prize for good behaviour.
(-: Have fun - always. If you love it - so will they.
Is reception class the same as Kindergarten? (4-5 yrs) or First Grade? (5-6 yrs).
Do you have Words Their Way in the UK? Search online. There are great sample activities you could use.

Suggestions on teaching a 6th grade Social Studies class?
-The course is only a month long and I can pretty much cover anything of my choosing but I'm at a loss here. What are some of the more essential/fun topics I should go over? I don't want to cram the history of civilization down these kids throats but rather give them some of the most relevant information. If you can cover anything of your choosing, AND you have some way to access the internet, then you might start by introducing them to HyperHistory online
http://www.hyperhistory.com/online_n2/Hi鈥?/a>
Then, let them individually or in small groups, pick a topic, a specific time period, area of history (science, art, political, etc.), or geographic area and research it. They could create some type of presentation for the rest of the class: a play, report with poster, timeline with illustrations, PowerPoint presentation, etc. That way, the rest of the class learns a bit about each area or topic.
You could start over (If you do small groups, I'd remix the groups so different students work together) each week and pick new topics.
OR
YOU could pick one specific time period or geographical area and assign different topics, people, events, etc. to individual students or small groups.
If you want something more structured, that you can plan out for the month, then I'd suggest doing a class timeline of one or two areas of history (like the history of mathematics or the history of music) and cover them. You will touch on important political stuff along the way. OR,
In a 1-day-a-week, year-long social studies class for homeschoolers (4-6th grade) that my son has enjoyed, the teacher selected a different country for each quarter. Then they did one artistic project related to that country, learned a bit about their history and customs, usually wrote some kind of small report or story, and wrapped up the unit by having students (parents) volunteer to make and bring in foods/dishes from that country, and everyone has a chance to taste them. The teacher also teaches cooking, so she provides the recipes, and occasionally provides a hard-to-find ingredient, or even makes a difficult dish herself. I think the kids learned a lot, and I think they remember quite a bit more when they are having fun. For this class, they did not have access to the internet (unless they did at home). If you are confident in subject and teaching, there should not be any problem. If teacher is dummy, problems will be every where.
Tell them the history of Friday and how it's modern days are used as titles for terrible songs.
How about the rise of democracy in the Greek civilization.
Perhaps the Declaration of Independence , Articles of Confederation , and US Constitution .
ok

In which states are there teaching jobs?
-I am elementary ed. certified. And any help would be appreciated. Thank you.Texas ( RISD ) & Plano specifically. North Carolina. New Jersey. Try the smaller sized states. Avoid probably California & Louisiana .every state has teaching jobs.
Are the following important things for public schools to teach?
-1. relations between different languages (like Spanish/Portuguese, Swedish/Norwegian, Hebrew/Arabic)
2. relations between related nations (like US/Canada, US/UK, US/Australia, UK/Australia, UK/Canada, US/Israel, France/Mali)
3. relations between similar US states (Pennsylvania/New Jersey/New York/Maryland/Delaware/Virginia Texas/California, etc.)
4. types of businesses (chain, franchise, federation, grocery store, department store, variety store)
5. history of technology (as part of either social studies or science classes)o
6. basic American history (some kids never know who the Indians were or that America was settled by Europeans until the kids reach 5th grade)
7. capitalization/common nouns/proper nounsThey should teach 3, 6 & 7. 4 & 5might be covered in high school, but 1 &2 are college material if done at any depth.

I am currently in college, and I want to teach Junior High should I major in Elementary or Secondar education?
-You should major in MIDDLE SCHOOL education. If your school doesn't offer this, you should consider switching to one that does. If you're determined to stay, generally a secondary education degree will prepare you better for middle schoolCheck with your professors in your school of education or with your academic advisor. Different states have different ideas of what route is best. For me, Elementary is k-6 and secondary is 9-12. I am going to school to become a middle school science teacher so I am majoring in elementary education with a concentration in english and science (I picked two by choice) with a middle school endorsement add on. Secondary would give you a lot of experience in one field with teaching instruction whereas elementary would give you a lot of experience in one or two subjects and some in all others with focus on teaching instruction. It depends a lot on what you want to do. If you are considering teaching a core type class where you would teach math and science or english and history I would suggest elementary.
depends what you consider junior high to be.
elementary generally certifies you in 1-6, secondary in 7-12.

I m searching for statistics professor who can give me class?
-You know you can go to your local community college and at least audit a class in statistics. A statistics professor will not likely have the time to give you private lessons online. In college, sometimes professors struggle to keep up with their own classes let alone get things done in there own lives. There is just too much info to for students to take in and learn and the professor has to make sure she/ he covers all of the bases of what needs to be taught in that class. There are some good books that you can get online that is relatively cheap and decent material that you can try to learn on your own.
Accused of Plagiarism but teacher hasn't reported yet?
-Got accused of plagiarizing on Midterm and Final exam! Help?
I have never committed any act of academic dishonesty. I honestly study by mere memorizing and regurgitating. So I basically memorized excerpts from the book and terms from the Internet that I thought we should know for the exams word for word and then put those answers on the exams. I did it honestly not KNOWING that you could even plagiarize on an exam. I plagiarism applied to essays projects, and assignments done beforehand where people become lazy. For this exam I studied for weeks, I studied so hard. Plus, I'm not trying to disrespect the teacher. I know that the teacher knows its from a book, I just didn't know it was wrong. I subconsciously get engrossed in what I am studying and then regurgitate it. I know what plagiarism is, and I KNOW it is serious; however, I did not think it applied to this kind of context.
When I told my teacher my explanation and ignorance, she seemed like she MIGHT or most likely report it although she didn't take it personally. I think she is trying to follow the rules. When I begged her not to she told me to relax since she believes they only give me a warning and a file for seven years on the first offense. I told her of my previous suspension and she said since they are unrelated that she's thinks (but isnt sure) that they will not suspend or expel me. I told her that the Dean of Judicial Affairs is not that understanding from my experience because that is her job. So she told me she would call generally to make sure first I wouldn't get suspended or expelled, but I wasn't completely sure.
She told me she would call me but it's been three weeks since she said that and hasn't yet. However, the rules for reporting a student are: The written report should be distributed as soon as possible, preferably within 15 calendar days from discovery, but not later than 30 calendar days after the first day of classes of the regular semester (fall or spring) following the grade assignment.
Should I talk to her today or should I just let it go and hope she forgot? I'm so nervous!C is for cookie, thats good enough for me
When a teacher makes a report on a student, that teacher would need undeniable evidence of what she's accusing the student of doing. In your case, your teacher may not have undeniable evidence that you plagiarized. Your teacher only has a hunch.
Lets draw this situation out. Your teacher goes to the principal and makes this report that you plagiarized. The principal asks the teacher what did this student copied? She would hand over the test and point out what parts she thinks you copied. Then the principal asks how does she know it's plagiarized. The principal would ask for the actual work that you copied from. The teacher wouldn't be able to show this. Now even if you did memorized a document, no one can truly memorize something exactly word by word, thus the principal wouldn't accept this as plagiarized because too many words aren't matching up.
Then the principal asks the teacher whether you the student have been in the room taking this test the entire time. Teacher says yes. The principal asks if she had seen you copy anything. She'd say no. If you had nothing out during the test, then you had nothing to copy from.
So the principal will do his own investigating and may call you in just to get your side of the story, see how it matches up with what the teacher says. If you don't hear from the teacher or principal, then don't worry about it. More than likely the teacher has made a scare tactic on you just to make sure you haven't plagiarized.

Will I get honour roll this year? do they round the average up?
-I know to get honour roll you need an 80% average but i ended up with a 79.625% as an average so would they round the average up to and 80%.
thanks

Can teachers tell sometimes if a boy likes a girl in class?
-Speaking as a teacher, generally yes - it's pretty obvious. We see the stolen glances, the staring when one thinks the other isn't looking, the longing looks, the passed notes, the shy smiles, all of it. Don't worry though, we see it all the time and it's not like it occupies a lot of our thoughts - it's just a little love in the air, that's all. :)Teachers are much more aware of what goes on and the dynamics between students than a lot of students are aware of. A lot of times students aren't very subtle about their crushes, they stand out a lot of times.
Probably, it depends how old the group of students are. Most of the time though they will be able to tell because of flirting and if the student is getting of task in class. So, i would say yes about 95% of the time.
Yes, i do feel so. Teachers can really really observe more than we can think. Once they hav doubt on someone, they may start noticing even more carefully... It may lead to a really awkward situation...
hahah ohhhh yeah. trust me. it can be REALLY embarassing.
Yes I am a teacher and I see it all the time! :)
yes, chance is about 70%.

How should I deal with my teacher?
-I'm a freshman at highschool. When I started school I saw a very cute guy (he must be about 26) who was a teacher at the school (he isn't really my teacher, he doesn't teach at my classroom), we kinda liked each other, we exchanged smiles, we chatted a little bit. I'd remain there late hours after school just to get a glimpse of him. One day he saw me, halted me inside one of the rooms, picked me up and kissed me. I felt scared but could not resist, we made out for about 20 minutes. It was sweet because that day he gave me a rose and a book and said that he loved me. From then he'd send me a rose or a note almost everyday through other students but last months I fell ill (I got measles) and skipped school for more than 3 weeks. Now he's changed, he hardly says hi to me, he doesn't care about me at all, I would cry all day long. I learned from a classmate that he was now dating a girl from another classroom, maybe because she's older and closer to his age but this really freaked me out. This is about a relationship and I feel so pissed off I sometimes think I should confront that stupid girl. My mom says she could go to school and tell him directly that I'm very sad and that I love him. I sometimes feel he likes that girl more because I'm fat and ugly. HE knew that I liked him and now he's with another girl from the same school, he should be respectful at least towards the young girls who are his students, if not towards the school where he works鈥?and if he likes me he should be with me and not with that stupid older girl.I think that you should stick with boys your own age first of all. It's illegal if he's over 18 I think. And your mom approves of it?! I swear. Not to be rude but that's wrong. Stick with your own age group.
Report Him To the Principal Or You could just give him A gift
Okay first of all... y are u making out with a grown man and he's a teacher.. dats jus triflin... I think u shud leave him alone and find sumbody your own age!!!

My teacher makes fun of me for reading?
-I'm in tenth grade going into eleventh and I had a teacher this year who would constantly make fun of me for reading, at first it was kind of funny like he jokes with all of the kids but he only kept it up with and and it got to the point where after class he'd yell at me about it. I've had other teacher make jokes and stuff bc I read so much but it's always in good fun and I can take a joke but he started to become really mean about it. The problem is I will have him again next year as a junior and there's a possibility of getting him as a senior too (I go to a pretty small school). So does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with this?Write a complaint to your principal
Yeah, people are annoying when they do that. How they hell are we supposed to know they're serious if they're joking around? And what's the point of joking? To try to get a message across without being hostile? What's the point if it's going to end in hostility anyway, right? Might as well be straightforward from the beginning. I'd rather have that, than to see their demeanor slowly transform over time like a sick mutation.
It's even worse that they act jokingly in the beginning too, because once they turn hostile, it just makes you realize that all niceness in the world is an act, and at any time that act will go away. A person who was once friendly but turned unfriendly is more sickening than someone who was consistently unfriendly from the beginning.
That's not right.........no student should be made fun of for reading. A lot of the kids in my grade make fun of me for the same reason, but they're idiots who can barely read themselves, so I don't really care about that. My teachers encourage me. I'd say that you should let your principal or another staff member know what is going on. Are you reading during class-when you're not supposed to? Because that would give the teacher a little excuse for at least the yelling at you. Well, not really; he could just ask you nicely to stop reading during class.
Anyway, if you're not doing anything that you are not supposed to be, definitely let your parents or a teacher know.

Can teachers see my emails and websites i'm on?
-im concerned about this, because at my highschool we use an online math program that downloads to you computer while your using it. and when you log into your email, its a hotmail email, but i'm wondering can they see if im on facebook while doing math or what i'm emailing friends about? If you're using the school servers but NOT the school computer, you're in a bit of a grey area, but yeah, they could see where you've been since you're not paying for the internet connection at the time, the school is.
Your high school is okay with you bringing your own laptop? Whoa ... better hope it doesn't get stolen.
What is going to help you most in life? Being on Facebook or doing your math work?
Make a decision about what is best for your life and then it won't matter whether your teacher can see what you are doing.
If you are using the school's server, yes, they can track anybody using it.
yeaah probably its there computer right?

Can professor see where and when students log and use their blackboard account?
-I just wanted to know, because my professor posted on the blackboard announcement that he can see where and when we log into our blackboard account; therefore we shouldn't cheat. But i just wanted to know. A curious thing. The answer to this is almost certainly - YES.

A Master's Degree in Modern Languages... What's next?
-Ok so I'm thinking about teaching and I can attain a Master's in 3 or so years. However, if I ever want to teach higher level language courses in a university I would need a phd, or so my adviser has told me. There's only one "phd" in modern languages that I know of. So what subject could I get one in? Linguistics? Or do I just have all of this completely wrong? -.-
What skills do you possess that will make this a successful journey? What skills do you hope to gain that will?
-I am trying to ask this question for my Masters program in Education. However I am not sure how to begin. Can someone please give me some examples as to how to answer this question. I thank you in advance for your prompt response in this matter I need information in order to complete my homework assignment that is due on Thursday evening.

What would you suggest I major/minor in?
-I'm about to become a senior in high school so I need to obviously be thinking about college and my major. I have an idea of what I want to do, but I'm not sure what I need to major/minor in to make that happen. I am also open to double majoring!
I am on the school newspaper and I really love it. The whole editing process and looking things over and finalizing is fun to me and it always keeps me busy. If I could somehow work with a magazine or newspaper company editing and putting together pages and articles, kind of like Cosmopolitan, I think I could definitely make a good career with it. Any suggestions of what I should major in is much appreciated! I'm thinking journalism or graphic design, but those are just my first thoughts! Thanks!you can major in journalism with a minor in design and that would prepare you well for print and online media careers. you could do journalism with a minor in RTVF and that would prepare you well for TV broadcasting. i think if you're good looking one of the best jobs in the world is TV reporter. my buddy does it here in Dallas, makes $120k a year salary, and is always on the scene when something big happens.

What is the average pay for teaching English in Vietnam?
-I was thinking about teaching in Vietnam within the next year or two and was wondering what the average pay would be as an English teacher. It would be helpful to translate it into dollars to see how it would spend in the U.S.. Also, what the value of the pay would be in Vietnam. Maybe comparing the pay to the pricing of housing, food, other goods in Vietnam. Thanks a bunch! If you teach English at a good school in Ho Chi Minh City you will make between $1000 - $2000 USD. The average income is less than $100 per month so as an English teacher you will live quite comfortably. Also, teachers in Vietnam are very highly respected. Tell someone you are a teacher and they will automatically love you. This is an account of a woman who went to South Vietnam to teach English. During the day, children in short-sleeved uniforms with tiny backpacks cling to their mothers on the way to school. Image-conscious women avoid tanning, which is considered unattractive, by riding under the scorching sun with their entire bodies covered in gloves, sleeves, and hats. Messengers strain to maneuver their motorbikes with improbable loads, swaying with care to avoid spilling their cargo; perhaps a refrigerator, a 5-foot potted tree, or an unharnessed television that must be held in place with an arm that most people would not consider to be available for the task.
By night, groups of friends ride in pairs or packs, chatting away and sometimes holding hands as they speed down the road. Some young men drive fast to impress their girlfriends. Other couples take easy joyrides, the rider on back massaging the driver鈥檚 shoulders or holding tightly. In fact, 鈥渪e om鈥? the Vietnamese word for motorbike, means 鈥渉ugging vehicle.
Even though it is quite easy to find most modern comforts in Can Tho, the city is at no loss for local specialties. I can buy a four-pack of Guinness at the supermarket when I want, but it is even easier to get a three-liter bag of locally-brewed beer in the alley next to my apartment. The food, sweeter than the typically salty cuisine of northern Vietnam, is cheap and delicious. At 33 cents per meal, it is not a problem to eat out three times a day even on my $80/month salary. Good luck.

Objectives of audio visual aids?
-We learn & retain better when we can actually See Images & Hear Sounds. "A picture is worth a 1000 words" !
Objectives :
-- to make lesson interesting & capture the attention of students
-- to make learning fun - who doesn't like visuals ?!
-- to show application or usage of theoretical knowledge
-- to increase the sensory stimuli & cater to other senses besides mundane reading notes / listening to lecturer/teacher. This also improves memory, retention & recall ; & the focus shifts from mere Intellectual learning to Multiple Intelligence involving many other senses & skills
-- to form stronger Associations between lecture content & visual depiction
-- to depict graphs, data, tables, diagrams, etc.
-- to dramatise ; also very helpful in music, dramatics, creative arts, etc. etc.
-- these are now increasingly used to simulate dissections instead of actually killing & dissecting animals
-- can be especially helpful to special children with learning or other disabilities/disorders. These can be customized to individual needs & requirements & skills.
-- in Language classes, for correct pronounciation [audio with simultaneous lip-movement]
Hope these help?audio visual is the best way to teach. In this type of teaching student thinks he is watching a programme or movie on tv and these scenes store easily in his mind

Any med students ever faint?
-I remember we lost a couple during the course of my EMT class to fainting over the sight of blood and/or gore. But that's why med students do clinical hours, to make sure they can handle this kind of work before they actually get a job in this field.Sounds crazy but it happens...
Should I continue emailing my teacher?
-I became very close to this male teacher, because I was going through a lot in my 8th grade year and I looked to him as a father figure.
After school ended last month, he told me to please keep in touch via email and come back to visit often.
I sent him an email because I had somewhat of a medical issue and he responded a few days later saying to please let him know how it went at the hospital I was at. He also said he didn't have access to a computer all the time yet (he took an out of state summer job as a producer for a news broadcasting station in atlanta) but wanted to hear from me.
After I went to the hospital, I emailed him again, and said how it went, and I went more in depth of what the hospital suspects that I have, and also an update on how my appointments went with my therapist and nutritionist, vaguely. I confided in him about my eating disorder, and he always asked about my appointments when I was in school. During this email I also told him I was doing very well with my self image, saying I felt a 7 out of 10, when it used to be 1 out of 10.
Then he emailed me back days later saying he was relieved/concerned, that I may know what's causing my medical issues. He said to email him back when I got results.
Two days ago I emailed him results, but also said I was struggling slightly more with eating, because I've had a lack of appetite, and I've just been not as happy as before. I mentioned that I would be better, and I had a lot of fun for a few days, to not let the whole email be a downer.
During each email, I ask him about how he's doing, and if he still likes being in Atlanta, as he lived there before moving to Phoenix. I don't just email him to talk about myself, I also sent a link to avideo he would enjoy (ie someone singing Lady Gaga, who we both like, on America's Got Talent), and I also mentioned that it must be so cool to write news stories like he does, since I want to be ajournalist.
Do you think he's only sending back emails late because he doesn't have access to a computer all the time? Or do you think he's possibly just not really caring that much about my emails? After he responds to this one should I just stop emailing him if I'm bothering him?

In striking are teachers undermining their own profesional standing and authority?
-I have hears the reasons why and in my heart do not blame them for taking the action they have. However I feel that in doing so they are undermining themselves both in their own standing and their authority when it comes to absences from school and maybe other disciplinary matters.
Professional people do not go out on strikeI agree 100% with what you are saying. I don't blame the teachers but I don't think striking will achieve anything. Plus, the government is still in talks with the teacher unions so striking at this moment is a waste of time since they haven't even come to a settlement yet.
I remember reading in the paper that 51% of the public will view teachers in a different perspective now and think they're not as professional but the other 49% will not view them any differently. When teachers strike it is for a stronger contract. It has nothing to do with the students or the school or the community. The contract, or CBA (collective bargaining agreement), is a legal document between the school district and the teachers' association (union). The CBA specifies salary, benefits, and working conditions. Some things are standard in the school code, but all other points are bargained. The contract gives teachers financial stability which is for their families, not their students. All during the school year teachers give all for their students, spending their own money on class supplies, coming early and staying late, calling parents in the evening, and going over and above for their students. Three times during my career I participated in a legal strike so that I could better provide for my family. The third time I was Association President and on the negotiation team. The third time was the longest but when we returned to school, I did not experience any change in my authority or feel undermined in any way. In fact, we returned stronger than ever, and did not experience any significant change in the community school support. Professional people such as doctors and lawyers can be self employed or work in a practice and set their own salary, benefits, and working conditions. If employees or associates, they have to individually bargain on their own. In PA. teachers do not individually negotiate their own contracts. An association can legally represent all the members of the bargaining unit whether union members or not.
if they are leaving the classroom to protest, I do think that reflects on their professionalism
No, they are standing up for what they believe in.
It's their own time they're wasting, not ours.

How to write application to principal to take leave.?
-Writing a 'leave of absence' letter to a principal can be antagonizing , and stressful. First, I hope that you have some kind of relationship with your principal. In cases like this, your principal can be more supportive of you - if you have an established relationship. You should also have details and information about your particular circumstances established from your district, In other words, if you are going on leave -is it medical? can you still be paid? Are you attending school? Are you going out of the country on sebatical? Most teachers who have an established relationshipw with their principal - the principal already knows what is going on - and it's a matter of paperwork, etc.
If you have not developed this relationship - then you need to draft your letter in good time (time so that the principal can perhaps have someone ready to take over your class quickly, and not leav e students hanging). Discuss the details with your principal. If you are able to come back after a period of time, let the principal know. I believe that principals will work with you if you are open, and honest.
Case in point - A teacher was invited to attend an 8 week tour of Durbin, South Africa Schools and learn the educational programs and systems there. This opportunity was to give the teacher and her school a chance to get involved in educational systems worldwide. The teacher went away for the 8 week period - but had website collaboration, teacher and student involvement in the program, lesson plans and assessments as growth potential for all parties involved. She was granted her leave AND paid for it. She returned with ideas, and information that would continue the process of other ways to help schools in foreign nations and the western world gorw closer.
Principals will work with you - you just have to be honest.
When you write your application - be honest. It might be you just need a 'mental health rest' - that' is okay too. Just make sure your DISTRICT will approve of your leave before you talk with the principal.Go in and talk to the principal face to face and explain why you want a leave. The principal will tell you what to put in writing for the school district. Good luck!
you need to go to him face to face , say why and then he will tell u what to do from there
If you have not developed this relationship - then you need to draft your letter in good time (time so that the principal can perhaps have someone ready to take over your class quickly, and not leav e students hanging).
??? idk you shouldnt get even tho..
dude its summer. forget it.

What does Harvard look for in students who apply? Help appreciated from teachers as well!!?
-What should one do in order to get accepted?
I am a freshman, but I am interested in Harvard, and I am willing to do whatever I can to get accepted into such a prestigious school...PLEASE HELP!!!Everyone applying to Harvard has the highest grades in the hardest classes and very high test scores, and Harvard took about 6% of applicants last year. They turned down thousands of 4.0 students and valedictorians and the smartest students in some countries. You need all that and a lot more to have a shot at getting in. And you also need a good reason to go there, which most people don't have. What will Harvard do for you (besides bragging rights) not other school could do?

Should I message my old history teacher letting her know that I did not like what she did in the past?
-Or should I just let it go?I'm a 19 year old girl and I graduated a year ago from high school and I still remember about my history teacher back when I was a freshman. She used to treat me like I was stupid, probably because of the Spanish accent I had. But I'm very good at speaking English and I was back then. I also remember she asked me a question about my backpack but I did not understand her the first time, so she started laughing and she said to herself " She doesn't understand." There was a time when she was handing out papers to students to join honors classes and I wanted one. She then looked at me and said," You? You want to join honors, do you even know what honors mean?" That got me good. There was also a time when she was speaking to me about college and said, " I have concern in you, do you know what concern means?" And lastly, she was rude, one time she was walking in my direction and told me, " You're in my way." She also yelled at me one time in the library for something really stupid. She also got fired from her job later on, but I don't think it was because she yelled at me. I've taken 2 honors classes in 10th grade and passed them both. I've also taken 3 AP classes during my senior year and passed all 3. Right now I am currently studying business at college. She has made me feel so stupid but my family and friends say I am not. This has been bothering me for years, and I think I might feel better if I told her how I felt and I didn't like what she did, but in a nice through facebook. But also will I get in trouble at facebook? Should I say something to her?You should probably let it go ... especially since the more you hold onto that anger, the more bitter you'll become, and that's just bad for your physical, spiritual, and mental health.
Also, she's probably forgotten about you and the whole thing by now, so even if you yelled at her, she'd just think "Who was that?", shrug, and go on with her life without caring.
But if you must hold onto your anger, let me share an old saying with you: "The best revenge is success." Be successful.let it go, as hard as it is. Jesus can help you forgive, and you dont want bitterness to eat you up inside. people will be rude, no matter where you go, there will be rude people, pray for her and ask God to give you strength to do what is right.:)
You can't really get in trouble for calling the ***** out on all that she has done. She's probably racist so you should tell her how well you are doing and what a piece of **** she is.
What purpose would it serve? Will it change what happened? Nope. Will it change how she teaches now assuming she is still teaching? Not likely. According to what you said, she received a consequence for being a bad teacher. She was fired. While it is true you don't know the circumstances that led to her being fired, really good teachers usually don't get fired. Forget the b@#$%. Focus on the positive things going on in your life. Remember the successes you have had. If you really feel the need to communicate with this person, write her a letter then BURN IT. That will allow you to vent your anger towards her.

How to approach teacher? someone please help me!?
-Ok. here are some more details. I was in grade 10 last year, and the co-ordinator was really nice. I did some naughty things last year though about she was involved in one, so i didn't think she liked me much. and i was rude last year to her once too. Anyway, by the end of the year i had got my act together. this year, i have been much better. I am in year 11, so no co-ordinator. But this teacher has come back from long service leave. And well. she is really nice, and some stuff has been happening recently.. it's kind of to do with school.. and i'd like to talk to her about it. I feel so awkward and embarassed though, i do not know how to approach her. one of my year 10 friends told me how she said to THEM that they can talk to her about anything, etc etc. but that's year 10s. anyway, i can't just go into her office and be like oh HAAAAAY lets talk?!!!? she is my sport teacher but she's only taught me once, and only for 4 weeks more she will. help! how do i approach her, thankyou
How do i go about teaching German?
-I am in love with my heritage and I would love to teach the German langue to others in a school. How do I do this and what are some colleges for this? It does not matter where they are at I just need some help so if you could please do so.Step 1: Open mouth.
Step 2: German comes out.
Step 3: Learning.

Would someone still be able to teach?
-If someone committed a petty theft crime, one of those " oh I was stupid while 18 or 19" deals & stole under $50.00. Would they still be able to get their teaching liscense & get a job? Are some states easier then others?I think that if the crime was not a felony and it was only a single occurrence years in the past that it wouldn't make a difference. Most applications ask only about felony convictions and background checks are probably focused on crimes against children.
Should ethics be taught in college?
-Any college that offers a major in philosophy offers at least one class in ethics and usually more than one. Other philosophy courses often deal with ethics even though they might be primarily about something else.
Maybe, however, you are asking if all college students should be required to take such a course. I think that would be a good idea.i graduated from U. Tampa with a course in business ethics ,so yes I see ethics as needing to be taught in college system. Ethics is needed to be known in so many professions and ethics also applies to life which would definitely make it a required course that one should have to graduate college from.
I think it's a good class to have. I wouldn't say it should have to be required for every student to take, but I don't see what is wrong with having the class offered. Plus I think it needs to be offered for people who major in things like philosophy.
Ethics should be taught far earlier than college, if you lack those until college youre in for a torrid time.

I'd like to become a teacher but I'm a little behind in education.?
-My IQ is 120. My GCSEs. D in Maths and Science. E in English, I passed level 2 functional skills for Maths and English. I'd like to re-take my GCSEs (Maths, English, Science and maybe something else) but I'm not sure what I'll need after that. I've tried looking and found basic requirements but I want to be a full-time middle school English teacher by the age of 30.
I'm 18 years old, so I'll finish GCSEs when I'm 19. Will I need to do A-Levels after that? Then University, or can I go straight to University and do my A-Levels there while also training to become a teacher?
I appreciate all answers regarding the subject, thank you.I think you'll have to do A-levels and get passes to enable you to gain entry to University. Check with your local college about studying for those, get them first and see if you can then get into University. You can also study at home through the Open University too remember. Best of luck.
Education classes for middle school will concentrate on elementary education classes. They are horrible. You spend hours and hours making little folders, notebooks, and no one tells you about the disfuctional middle schoolers, who are raging with hormones that are out of control.
Do yourself a favor, major in Education, K-12. It's harder work, but you will be free to teach any subject at any grade level whenever you want. I did that, and majored in biology, minored in organic chemistry and music. While i taught middle school i picked up a degree in abnormal psychology; focusing on the adolescent. After 15 years of teaching the 'range of the strange' I moved to a mountain town in Colorado. I wound up running an off campus campus, teaching individual seniors whatever class they needed to graduate. One semester I was teaching Physics, algebra, biology and senior lit one on one, and then running over to the school campus and teaching beginning band to 6th graders. If it weren't for the education K-12 degree, I wouldn't' have had the opportunity to do that. It was fun. And I made good money in a town where unemployment was over 30%. Leave your options open. As you teach, you will find a niche in which you excell, It may not be middle school English. Pardon my grammar and punctuation. I'm in a big hurry and didn't plan on answering any questions today; just asking one.
To answer your question: graduate high school and go straight to college.
You could retake your English, Maths and Science GCSEs.
After GCSEs, you have a couple of options. You could do A levels which would be time-consuming and potentially expensive. You could also look for a Higher Education Access course which would get you into university. It will prepare you for Higher Education and they're becoming quite respected by universities. Some local colleges will deliver them and I believe they're more flexible than A levels and there may be funding.
Once you've got your Access Course or A levels, you can apply to go onto university. Your degree needs to be at least 50% English in order for you to go onto teacher training.

Are there any free anger management classes in High Point, NC?
-For people who don't have insurance, and haven't been court ordered to go. Also, please don't suggest Christian counseling. I won't go to that.
Okay! so I am learning about the Chinese language but I have no idea where to start...?
-I know a few phrase but not enough.. I would like a listing of books, perhaps some tips and maybe a list of the cds to start off. Thanks!
What was the worst teacher you ever had in school? Why were they bad?
-Don't you mean "Who was the worst teacher you ever had?"
Well but I had two really horrible teachers and both of them were high school math teachers. They were both boring and ugly but that wasn't why they were the worst teachers I ever had. They were the worst because they made fun of the students. They would say horrible things about certain students right in front of everyone else so that they would get laughed at. I won't go into details about the specifics but I was not exempt from being ridiculed by these evil women? Yes they were both women and yes it still makes my face burn to think about them. Even today, so many years later, I still feel the pain of those moments of ridicule. No teacher should do that to a student ever!Don't you mean "Who was the worst teacher you ever had?"

Is being in a community band an extra curricular activity?
-Hi I am 17 and I'll be a senior when school is back. I was wondering if I played the flute in my towns community band would count as an extra curricular activity. I've played the flute for about 2 years in my school band, but not anymore. Would universities see being in a community band as one? Would you also list some other extra curriculars? I also was thinking about taking violin lessons. And is volunteer work considered extra curricular? You could list it as being extra curricular, but you probably couldn't get band credit from your school for it. I'm thinking that you're trying to beef up your resume before college admissions. Well, don't go overboard. Try a little volunteering here and there, that would be great for a resume and great for your community.
Yes but if you need to get credit for it you had better check with your school. Some activities may not qualify for credit. Where I am there are suggested activities approved by the school, all for community service credit.
In your case it may mean only things you do that are not classes, like stamp collecting or folk dancing. So your answer depends on the context of the question.

How do you find a teacher that's not in your school anymore?
-My 8th grade teacher isn't in my old middle school anymore. I graduated like 2 years ago, I know in which school he is but it's kinda far from where I live. I cant drive yet so it's not like I have a car. I dont have his email or phone number or anything. I tried facebook, nothing! He was such a cool guy, one of my favorite teachers, he gave me a Pink Floyd CD! I definately need to get in touch with him!If he owns a house, you know his last name, and what county he lives in ... You can do a property search to find his address and write him a letter. To do the search google (your county) appraisal district and search by owners name
look him up in the phonebook

What is the best Learning Management System out there?
-The other two answers are great, however if you were looking for an LMS for your company...basically wanting to convert your current training materials over to an online university for your employees...I researched a few and found that eLogic Learning鈥檚 LMS was really good, plus the people were really nice to take the time to answer questions and take the time to educate me on all that they offered.
They are not the cheapest, but not the most expensive. Their customer service and can-do attitude was refreshing. They offered so many different options including support, content development and training. My boss decided to go another direction so unfortunately we did not go forward with creating our own LMS, but check out their website, www.elogiclearning.com, or call them. You are asking a very 'BIG' question with lots of loop-holes. There are many systems out there and many of them are excellent however, you should probably be asking folks who have experience in some of them to note the kind they use, and how 'useful' it may be. If you are looking for one and have no idea what to expect, then I am able to give you some ideas.
LMSs cater to educational, administrative, and deployment requirements. While an LMS for corporate learning, for example, may share many characteristics with a VLE, or virtual learning environment, used by educational institutions, they each meet unique needs. The virtual learning environment used by universities and colleges allow instructors to manage their courses and exchange information with students for a course that in most cases will last several weeks and will meet several times during those weeks. In the corporate setting a course may be much shorter in length, completed in a single instructor-led event or online session.
The characteristics shared by both types of LMSs include:
Manage users, roles, courses, instructors, facilities, and generate reports
Course calendar
Learning Path
Student messaging and notifications
Assessment and testing handling before and after testing
Display scores and transcripts
Grading of coursework and roster processing, including wait listing
Web-based or blended course delivery
Characteristics more specific to corporate learning, which sometimes includes franchisees or other business partners, include:
Auto enrollment (enrolling Students in courses when required according to predefined criteria, such as job title or work location)
Manager enrollment and approval
Boolean definitions for prerequisites or equivalencies
Integration with performance tracking and management systems
Planning tools to identify skill gaps at departmental and individual level
Curriculum, required and elective training requirements at an individual and organizational level
Grouping students according to demographic units (geographic region, product line, business size, etc.)
Assign corporate and partner employees to more than one job title at more than one demographic unit.
You asked your question in 'teaching' therefore, I am assuming that the management system you are inquiring about has to do with 'education".
In my school district - we use "Chancery", which controls not only attendance, discipline, etc. but also grades. We have also added "Gradespeed", which involves components for parents to go online and visit their children's grades, assignments, notes from the teacher, information, important dates, etc.
be more specific. there are different Learning Management Systems for high school, middle schools, and elementary school students, so personally i think that you need to look that up on you're own . because also many schools have their own learning system, like Durham North Carolina they have to have their high school students do homework for at least 2hours. but UNC Chapel Hill they expect high school students to have at least an 1hour in. and they are different ways elementary school teachers teach their kids how to count , some schools require for kids to use their hands, some require to use fake objects such as pizza's cups etc. so first look at you're schools website or call and see what they require . if you are doing this on you're own then look up whats best you. if you are better at hands on learning then look up _______ hands on learning tools or notes on ______________ Hoped I help:)
Selection on Learning Management System is tough task... really, there are so many players in market who are dealing with the same. We were in same situation and finally, a friend of mine from TULIP - one of the biggest DATA Center company, told me about their vendor - Flexiguru.com. It is a Learning Management Software. We are also usiing it it our Company. We are a Business and Finance Course Education company and we offer this to our student for online learning and training.

Would this be enough experience to get onto primary education at uni?
-I know if you want to study primary ed at uni in the UK then they tend to look for experience in working with children more than your academic grades.
I help out with Brownies and I'm working towards my young leader qualification, and I had a week's work experience in a day nursery, and I occasionally help out there in the holidays. I also have a week's work experience in a primary school with Reception children'they tend to look for experience in working with children more than your academic grades'
..erm, no, they want lots of experience (which Brownies is good for) AND academic grades

Should I change my major? ?
-I'm acurrent business major at ursinus college I have a 3.9 and am thinking about switching my major to international relations I also scored a 172 on my LSAT and plan to attend university of Chicago law once I'm done. I want to be a litigation attorney and I am wondering if having a ir degree will be bad for employment?International relations will put you in the category of representing multicultural clients, who may have businesses all over the world. On the other hand, you could also find yourself representing Americans who for one reason or another, have been detained in a foreign country. The world is getting smaller every day and you know that. Knowing how to conduct yourself at any place in it can't hurt. Something to think about though:
Are you basically a diplomatic and patient person? Are you empathetic and understanding, granting people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their conduct or beliefs?
Yes. You're stupid when it comes to business.

Should I contact my AP teachers?
-I was thinking about asking them for my AP scores. Teachers have access to them beginning on July 1st.
Should I email them and ask? I'm hesitant because doing that really revokes the emotions felt from opening the CollegeBoard letter I will receive later in July.I would email them. Just say your excited about your scores, and can't really call CB. The worst they can say is no.
I never paid for them either. I never saw the point. Even if you don't email them, you then have something to do for the next ~15 days, waiting everyday for the mailman...in hopes your scores will come. You have to pay to get them before they mail them to you.. Well maybe your teacher will give it to you but i doubt it.

How to make teacher feel guilty?
Thus he will either pass me and noticed I am walking, or he will stop over. if he stops over I would say I don't want to bother your time and dont take a ride if he offers. what you think of this idea?Karma will get him. Just wait.

Need advice from current medical students or recent graduates!?
-What are my chances at med school (am I on the right track?)?
I am a black female (I don't know if this is relevant, but thought i should add) I attend one of the highest ranked public universities in the nation. I am currently an Applied Math major, thinking about doubling in Chemistry. I have an overall GPA of 3.3, I will beginning my sophomore year in the fall. My science GPA is a 3.4. I volunteer at the hospital and at an inner-city middle school. I work a part-time job. Thinking about pledging in a sorority, if I have the time. I've been doing research in a lab for about a year and working on getting my name on a publication..
Any advice?
Thank you

I am trying to find a good hands on lesson plan on the concept of weight for first graders?
-I am teaching summer school and it is first grade math. We are doing measurement this whole week and I would like to touch and do a very basic introduction on weight, however, I cannot find a good lesson plan that will work. Most lessons want you to have a balance scale, problem is, I don't have access to one. I thought about having various objects and having them guess which one would be heavier and then lifting them up to see if they were right, not sure how successful that would be. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.Instructables has an awesome step by step guide to making you own scale with a few office supplies

Seriously: How do some teachers get jobs?
-I know teachers get the worst treatment by some students on a daily basis and many do not deserve it all. I really liked the majority of my teachers throughout my education and have liked some in college so far. I even cried for my teacher once at home because of how some students were treating her and I always respected teachers because I saw how hard they worked and how little respect they got.
But then I had two teachers I think just slipped through the cracks and got in based off of credentials with no background check as they were just completely horrible in personality and the way they treated students. I remember even being called a moron by one teacher in a gifted 6th grade class and being berated in front an entire magnet class in 8th grade because "it took me too long to find the daily agenda at the corner of the board and read it out loud".
I seriously lost a lot of self esteem in my studies with these teachers and felt hopeless in class for not being liked by the teacher. I'm uncaring now of how teachers treat me and just work hard but it still hurt to be made fun of by an adult at such a young ageLol, high school teachers tend to be the bottom of the barrel of whatever discipline they are associated with. Those who can, do; those who can't, teach... is actually fairly accurate.
Anyways, have confidence in yourself good miss, you don't need their approval. They are people who will never achieve what you are capable of.
Yes, I agree that teachers should be respected because they work hard for teaching. Same as students should be respected by teachers too. When I was in elementary, I had a PE teacher. She is a very good teacher in her field but I lost my respect to her when she told and shouted over the microphone that we are all flirt when we had our dance practice. We went straight to our room and cried. So the moment our adviser knew what happened, she was called by our school principal. but then she did not show up. After that, whenever we met outside the school and even now I don't smile at her first because I still remember what she did to us. It's embarrassing.
Your question is probably rhetorical, but here are my thoughts:
What happens to young people in school can affect their lives adversely for decades. You are fortunate that you were not discouraged from learning or falsely convinced that you were in fact a moron. Many other people were and had much worse outcomes; many now are receiving not so subtle messages from incompetent, antisocial teachers and will be convinced that they are stupid and unable to learn past a certain point.
In my more recent experience and in the experience of many others, some teachers and administrators also happen to have irrational prejudices that come out in their treatment of students, i.e., low expectations based on some metric that has no relationship to student intellectual potential. In my state in the past certain class action lawsuits were filed and won in an attempt to put a stop to that. But one cannot effectively legislate against erroneous bias.
And quite frankly, even relatively stupid people can become public school teachers (or presidents, or prime ministers, or dictators).
There is no requirement that a teacher pass a popularity contest in order to keep their job. So you would do well to remember that your education depends on you and the effort you make to go way beyond what the school requires or is willing to teach. A teacher is there to show you the path to follow, and to advise you along the way. Some are more willing to do this than others. The best you can do is to try to form a good working relationship with the teacher.
In my state (California) a candidate must have a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree although it does not matter what their major was. With a few more classes relevant to teaching, the candidate is eligible to take a test, which I think at this time is the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBEST
Public school teachers are first and foremost people who are trying to make a living. They had the time and money to get through college; they took advantage of the opportunity to become a teacher. It has proven for many public school teachers to be a secure position with benefits and a pension. You would not know that from complaints by teachers unions.
Teachers unions have been known to claim that if teachers were paid more, you would get better results from them in K-12 schools. Go figure. That is a hard case to sell when you consider that many folks whose kids are at those schools are living in a significantly lower socioeconomic status than the teachers and have no way of changing that. If you think you have been shown disrespect by teachers in your K-12 experience, imagine how those parents feel.
Some teachers are very motivated to do a great job, and they truly care about the outcome of their teacher/student relationships. But teachers are often constrained by curriculum imposed on them by their employer, and any deviation from it represents a real threat to their job security.
None of the above complaints from teachers can justify incompetence and antisocial behavior.
Some other issues:
Schools here are funded by local property taxes and thus school resources and quality tend to vary inversely with average socioeconomic status of the people living in any particular school district.
Currently California K-12 public school districts want to do whatever they can to make their mandatory standardized test scores look good because the district鈥檚 eligibility for state and ultimately federal funding is based on that score. They tend to work toward the lowest common denominator rather than teaching toward a greater goal.
Unfortunately, as of right now, this is the case with most people. I have come across some HORRIBLE teachers myself. I was JUST thinking earlier today about how there are so many people who absolutely do not need to be in the line of work they are in and I started wondering how we should start screening them better.
My husband was telling me about a state trooper that pulled him over the other day while he was driving home from a doctor's appointment. He was supposedly going "2 miles over the speed limit." You can't legally ticket someone for going only 2 miles over.. it is basically just a waste of time. My husband just got off work too and had to go to the appt. right after (he works 3rd shift so his sleep is messed up) so of course he was exhausted. And the thing is, there was a woman behind him who was weaving back and forth in the lane, putting on her makeup, brushing her hair, brushing her teeth, and talking on her cell... my husband pulled up to an intersection and this woman pulled up NEXT TO HIM instead of behind him, didn't look to see if any traffic was coming, and just pulled right out into the road... all while on her cell. And the cop didn't bother to pull HER over! My husband pointed this out to the guy... but he got a robot answer of course.. he got off with a warning that apparently had already been printed up and everything. (The newer police cars have cameras that scan for license plate numbers and run them through the computer.. we think that because my husband got pulled over for not wearing a seat belt a while back that this guy saw that on his record after running the plate and THEN pulled him over HOPING to catch him not wearing his seat belt.. cuz he even asked if he was wearing it even though it was obvious that he was because he had to reach over to get the registration crap outta the glove compartment and the guy saw him unbuckle it..)
My point is, in every line of work, you will come across people who SUCK at their job. I can't even begin to tell you all the crap I've put up when dealing with teachers. And when you're a kid, a good kid, you can't say anything. It's just not in your nature to talk back to someone who is supposed to be an authority figure. I always say that teachers should be one of the most respected people and should get paid more (my mom is Korean, and over there teachers are revered up there with doctors and stuff..) but when I see all the crappy ones out there, I just dunno what to say. My kids also have to put up with dumb teachers. I have sent letters before.. and one of them even sent me a nasty email back. I was upset because the jerk had this assignment set up for the very first day of school, and if you messed it up in any way you got detention. Of course, my daughter gets detention.. I don't understand how a teacher can even come up with something like that on the first day. Regardless of how bad he was treated before, you can't have a chip on your shoulder like that.
It's like these teachers have no idea what it's like to be a kid.. or how much it affects a child when an adult makes them feel bad like that. It shapes you! I mean, you carry those memories with you forever.
I hope you can get past it all and use all of those experiences toward a greater good. You are the sum of your experiences. :)
