-Definitely. I wouldn't mind a job with 13 weeks paid holiday, would you?Definitely. I wouldn't mind a job with 13 weeks paid holiday, would you?The old days of teachers having 13 weeks holiday a year are long gone, the majority of teachers these days have up to 35 days a year like the rest of us. The schools, colleges and universities are closed but the staff are still in there planning and preparing for the coming terms. These teachers/lecturers can only have their holidays when the institutes are closed.
This dispute isn't about pay, it's about pensions, and a contract we had with the government. When we started our careers we were told that in return for working a given amount of years and paying a given amount of our pay, we were promised a given amount of pension. If I told my creditors that I couldn't afford to pay them and I would arbitrarily reduce the amount, I would find myself in court very quickly. The government say they can't afford public sector pensions, the government can afford whatever the government wants to afford. Billions are spent pursuing wars in Afghanistan and Libya. Huge amounts are spent in overseas aid, and don't get me started on payments made to illegal immigrants and asylum seekers.
A survey today reckons that 49% of people polled were against the strike, could it be that these people will be inconvenienced for a day to have to look after their own children or will have to wait a bit longer at the airport? Tough, The public sector only wants what the government PROMISED them, the government wants to renege on a agreement because it suits them. Interestingly enough it's only the lower paid public service sector who's pensions are under threat, are not MPs public sector employees, are they being forced to work longer for less, don't be silly, of course not, and this dispute will continue until the bankers who got us into this mess and still pocket millions in bonuses and walk away with pensions worth more than some public sector workers will ever earn, This has to be sorted as well.
I have a friend who is a teacher......You are quite obviously not. I have seen her come home in pieces....Working out of hours, struggling to keep Control with the restraints they have to work under. You try dealing with a six foot stroppy teenager that stands towering over you telling you that your a piece of sh*t and staring at you menacingly, because he knows he can. Try taking a look at the street trash that hang around supermarket car parks and imagine your self trying to teach that kind of class. I wouldn't be a teacher for all the money in the world mate, and I personally admire those that have the balls to do the job. No I certainly don't think they are taking the piss.
Get a job n find out what it's like to work a 40 hour week on a low income! Stop tralling the net giving it out hiding behind fake profiles! Toooooooooooooool!
