-Hi I am 17 and I'll be a senior when school is back. I was wondering if I played the flute in my towns community band would count as an extra curricular activity. I've played the flute for about 2 years in my school band, but not anymore. Would universities see being in a community band as one? Would you also list some other extra curriculars? I also was thinking about taking violin lessons. And is volunteer work considered extra curricular? You could list it as being extra curricular, but you probably couldn't get band credit from your school for it. I'm thinking that you're trying to beef up your resume before college admissions. Well, don't go overboard. Try a little volunteering here and there, that would be great for a resume and great for your community.
Yes but if you need to get credit for it you had better check with your school. Some activities may not qualify for credit. Where I am there are suggested activities approved by the school, all for community service credit.
In your case it may mean only things you do that are not classes, like stamp collecting or folk dancing. So your answer depends on the context of the question.
