What to get teacher for 8th Grade end of year gift?

-He is a Boston Bruins fan and loves Hockey and basketball.

I'd like to make it special cuz I'll never see him again.I think you should write him a thank you letter instead. I did this for one of my teachers and they told me it was the best kind of gift that they could ever receive.
