Will my professors drop me in their subjects because i didn't attend 2 weeks of class?

-im worried, i didnt attend some of my subjects ( i haven't attended from the start of the class) for two week straight.. are they going to drop me in their subjects??This depends largely on two factors:

1) How strict is your University's policy on attendance? Is it rigorously enforced?

2) What policies do your professors have in regards to attendance?

Where I work, I have very little control over the first and second-year courses when it comes to attendance, and my superiors watch my attendance sheets like hawks because of the enrollment policies. As such, I am required to rigorously enforce the attendance policies and drop students who miss the first two consecutive days of any course to make room for the students who are trying to get in.

However, each professor is given a degree of discretion that increases with the difficulty of the coursework. Upper-division classes have more leeway than first-years, graduate courses with upper-division, and so on. If a graduate student misses two weeks of class for a good reason, I usually won't drop him or her. Similarly, in upper-division courses, a student could potentially miss two weeks and only lose a few points off the end of the final semester grade, provided that all the work has been completed. With first-year students, I have to hold to the absence and attendance policies, but I make it clear at the start of the semester what the guidelines are for excused and unexcused absences and how they will affect grades.

As such, what I recommend is to review the syllabus for each of your courses and speak privately in office hours to each of your instructors about the reasons for your absences. Check the University's policy for attendance in regards to your situation and use it to defend your position or beg for leniency. One more tip: find out what you've missed and bring any homework that was due to the meeting (or turn it in immediately if the professor has a late penalty policy). If you show up knowing the policy, having the work done, and with a bulletproof reason for missing class, you're a lot more likely to avoid hassle.

Good luck!
