How long does it usually take to hear back from a teaching job?

-I had a pre-screening with HR, then I went in for the interview with the principal- 7days ago. Today I took a thank you letter and found out that the Principal is off for the Summer. How long does it usually take to find out if you got the job? Would they go on summer break before deciding? I asked the HR lady and she seemed to know nothing but she did say there was a delay because of change of positions within the distrct and that they should have sent out letters out already.It doesn't sound good, I'm afraid. It's very rude of them not to keep you posted, but they should have let you know by now if you had been hired, because there are things, like fingerprinting, etc. that need to be done before you can be in the classroom. It may be that they transferred somebody from another school rather than hire a new person. This happens a lot. Employers these days are very rude. They let people know the good news, but not the bad news. It may be different in your case,

but you should continue to job hunt just in case.
