-You should major in MIDDLE SCHOOL education. If your school doesn't offer this, you should consider switching to one that does. If you're determined to stay, generally a secondary education degree will prepare you better for middle schoolCheck with your professors in your school of education or with your academic advisor. Different states have different ideas of what route is best. For me, Elementary is k-6 and secondary is 9-12. I am going to school to become a middle school science teacher so I am majoring in elementary education with a concentration in english and science (I picked two by choice) with a middle school endorsement add on. Secondary would give you a lot of experience in one field with teaching instruction whereas elementary would give you a lot of experience in one or two subjects and some in all others with focus on teaching instruction. It depends a lot on what you want to do. If you are considering teaching a core type class where you would teach math and science or english and history I would suggest elementary.
depends what you consider junior high to be.
elementary generally certifies you in 1-6, secondary in 7-12.
