Is it hard to learn German or French by yourself?

-Hi im currently in college and I am thinking that im going to learn either German or french but by myself, I think they are alot of resources on the web like websites and podcast and some vids, I still have to decide which language im going to focus on but I want to ask is it reaaly hard to learn a language by yourself.



I think I like German more, I just like the syntax and the phonology but french seems more I dont kno standarized?... the problem with German is the Grammar its really difficult to understand but the pronnuciation is rather easy for me.. so does anyone have any experience with learning by yourself, should I do it, advice?
