-help! i have a teaching interview monday- reception class, literacy lesson using inside & outside classroom. i need ideas please!! xIdeas? You should have completed your teacher training with a magnitude of wonderful ideas.
I don't know what reception is but I assume they are young.
1. Preparation should be simple but effective. Children love to learn by playing or creating
2. Student need to be ordered and structured so you won't lose control of your class.
3. Plan and pre prepare all their items. ie Photocopy and cut out an entire set of hands and feet and maybe a face. They can colour them in write their names on them, label them, hands, fingers, nails, toes etc.
or outside they could draw around their hands and feet and cut out the shapes themselves - label them etc and then hang them around the room somewhere.
Make sure you have the words they need to spell on the board or individual sheets for them to copy.
Have all the pencils, textas, scissors, paper etc ready in advance.
Make sure you have a class list so you know how to spell their names.
Have a reward box for the best behaved students. Keep adding their names when they are good. At the end pull out a name and reward that student with a prize for good behaviour.
(-: Have fun - always. If you love it - so will they.
Is reception class the same as Kindergarten? (4-5 yrs) or First Grade? (5-6 yrs).
Do you have Words Their Way in the UK? Search online. There are great sample activities you could use.
